We humans sometimes cling to the familiar way of coping, even if we well know that the way we are dealing with things is no longer serving us–or is even hurting us. Each of us develops a particular set of coping skills in our formative years in order to deal with our world: family, friends, romantic partners, school, and etc. Understanding why we do what we do in the present will not only help us understand ourselves but it will also help us let go of the familiar but dysfunctional way of coping with life events. By letting go of the outdated, obsolete and dysfunctional tools (coping mechanisms), we can introduce new way of living our lives. We can transform our experience of ourselves and our lives from merely surviving to a deep and powerful sense of thriving.
I use integrative approach to treat emotional and relationship issues. I utilize a variety of techniques; psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family system theory, and mind-body therapy. This integrative, dynamic approach will bring changes into a person’s life and this will most profoundly manifest in their relationships.
