Haruna Miyamoto-Borg, LCSW-R
New York State Licensed Individual/Couple Therapist
My aim as a psychotherapist is to help individuals and couples stop repeating destructive and often self-defeating patterns of behavior. I do so by helping people gain deeper understanding of their issues and of the complex factors that underlie such patterns.
My Approach
I use a client-centered, empathetic, non-judgmental approach to treat emotional difficulties and interpersonal issues. My approach is grounded in my eclectic training experiences which include a combination of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral and family therapy. Throughout the process of psychotherapy, I help individuals and couples identify uncomfortable, painful, frightening and disruptive feelings. I help clients and couples work through outdated and unhelpful patterns of behavior–and relating to others–and develop constructive, healthy and healing ways to express themselves. Specifically, I work with people, individually and in couples, to help them develop ways of expressing themselves that harness intimacy in their relationships.
